Players are hand-picked by Select Generation scouts after we have either watched them play live or reviewed full-match footage.

SGFC competes within the highly competitive English football pyramid, where promotion and relegation are fundamental. We only offer contracts to players we believe have the talent and potential to make the squad and contribute to the team’s goal of achieving promotion.

Our aim is to develop talented players, expand our agency network, and help represent players at the professional level, while also mentoring them to become good players and, most importantly, good human beings.

The goal is the same everywhere: to develop players and help them reach the next level. What changes is the environment, and that decision is based on what your game needs—not simply on what sounds most appealing.

England is more physical and direct, providing a competitive environment that challenges players against strong opposition. Spain offers a more technical style, while Dubai’s soccer market is growing rapidly, with opportunities for both physical and technical development.

We place players where our scouts believe their game needs the most development, rather than based on personal preference. Being a technical player does not automatically mean Spain is the best fit. If physicality is an area that needs improvement, for example, England may be exactly where you need to be.

SGFC also offers a three-year, FAFSA-eligible degree in an English-speaking country. Players may have opportunities to move between locations after the season, depending on their individual development needs.

We hope this happens! If a professional club shows interest in your son, we will work closely with the player and their family to evaluate the offer and determine the best next step.

Player development is a key objective of Select Generation. As a FIFA-licensed agency, we will represent the player and support them throughout the process.

The men's league is focused on helping us achieve promotion within the English football pyramid.

The U23 league provides high-level competition and focuses on technical and tactical development. It is the highest youth level outside the Premier League and Football League system.

The U19 league is primarily for players who need additional playing minutes or are returning from injury.

We will have a 3 week break around the Christmas period for players who wish toreturn home.

All players are covered by the federation and the club for soccer-related activities. In the event of a long-term injury, players can access hospital care and use the club’s resources, including our physiotherapist and physical trainer, for recovery and rehabilitation.

Players will stay at an SGFC-only facility with essential amenities, including a bed, desk, wardrobe, and shared bathroom.

Our players spend time updating their highlight reels, texting and calling coaches about their next steps with support from SGFC staff, attending individual meetings, and reviewing game footage and local professional matches.

They also have access to gym sessions focused on fitness, injury prevention, and recovery, as well as shared spaces where they can relax and unwind.

Some players choose to referee or coach at youth clubs, while others gain internships through AI, remote, or local businesses. Players can also pursue academic studies through affiliated online universities and earn credits that may be eligible for NCAA transfer.

The program runs from mid-August through May or June, depending on whether the team advances to the playoffs. Most players sign a one-year contract.

Our goal is to provide players with all the resources they need to grow both as soccer players and as individuals, with continued support during and after their time with Select Generation FC.

Our scouting network is based in North America, with players primarily coming from across the U.S. and Canada. We focus on discovering under-the-radar talent—players with strong athletic and technical ability who may need further development in the tactical aspects of their game.

Select Generation has extensive expertise in the North American soccer system and understands the various pathways available to players after high school graduation.

Select Generation provides a mentored application process for players applying to Bournemouth University. The university typically aims to make a decision within four weeks of receiving an application. Please note that incomplete applications may delay the decision-making process.

Studying in England allows you to earn a recognized degree in as little as three years while gaining valuable international experience.

Bournemouth University offers strong academic programs and competitive tuition compared with many private and out-of-state universities in the U.S. For student-athletes, studying in England also provides an opportunity to develop academically and professionally while gaining international experience that can strengthen your resume.

Under the new NCAA age-based eligibility rule, effective for the 2026–27 academic year, your five-year eligibility window begins at whichever comes first: enrolling full-time at a college or university, or the start of the academic year immediately following your 19th birthday.

As long as you enroll in college no later than the academic year after you turn 19, you can retain the full five years of eligibility.

A gap year at SGFC does not start your NCAA eligibility clock because you are not enrolled full-time at a degree-granting institution. Similarly, taking online courses part-time (fewer than 12 credit hours) does not start your eligibility clock.

Yes! SGFC players can maintain their NCAA eligibility while playing for Select Generation.

If they are studying full-time at Bournemouth University, their NCAA eligibility clock will begin. However, if they are in England on a student or tourist visa and are not enrolled full-time, their NCAA clock will not start if they take 11 credit hours or fewer.

Playing in England also helps players develop physically, technically, and tactically. This international competitive experience can make them more attractive to college coaches and increase their opportunities for scholarship offers.

College coaches and scouts recruit internationally based on players they trust and have established relationships with. Select Generation is a FIFA-licensed agency with a global network and direct relationships with NCAA coaching staff across all divisions.

Our staff actively connects players with college programs, shares game film and highlight reels, facilitates communication with coaches, and supports players throughout the recruiting process.

Being based in England does not limit your exposure. Instead, it enhances your profile by adding international competitive experience to your soccer résumé.

We're not promising you a pro contract or a scholarship. The only things we promise are opportunity, real development, and an environment that pushes you hard enough that you leave knowing exactly who you are as a player and a person, ready for whatever's next on and off the field.
